Punjab is struggling with severe floods these days. According to official data, 29 people have been killed so far, while more than 15,600 people have been evacuated to safe places. More than 2.56 lakh people have been directly affected and 1,044 villages are completely submerged in water. The most impact is being seen in Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Fazilka and Pathankot districts.
The havoc of floods is so deep that the roofs have been taken away from the heads of thousands of families. The crops of the fields have been destroyed and have been severely damaged from roads to other infrastructure. Punjab's economy on agriculture, has also suffered a major setback. At the same time, lack of clean water, food, and medicines in front of people taking shelter in relief camps has now become the biggest challenge.
